Although skiing is the main attraction of the area, non-skiers will still benefit from the apres-ski entertainment, the clear, mountain air and the beautiful views of the surrounding scenery.

Erzurum itself is also well worth a visit for its well preserved Selçuk and early Ottoman monuments amongst which are the famous Çifte Minareli Medrese, a 13th century theological college, named after its two intricately designed minarets, the Yakutiye Medresesi with its interesting architecture and the ancient citadel. The covered bazaar is unusual in that most of the stalls deal in the locally mined “Oltutasi”, a jet-like stone from which prayer beads and jewellery are fashionedamongst which are the famous Çifte Minareli Medrese, a 13th century theological college, named after its two intricately designed minarets, the Yakutiye Medresesi with its interesting architecture and the ancient citadel.
