Tiled Mansion

The two -storey opposite the Archaeological Museum is the first building built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet at Topkapı Palace. The summer pavilion dated 1472 is an early Ottoman example of Seljuk influence with its facade, iwan terrace and cutting tile decor. Long inscription on the entrance wall. The Köşk, built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1472, is one of the oldest Ottoman civil architecture examples in Istanbul. It was used as a Museum-i Humayun (Imperial Museum) between the years l875-1891. It was opened to visitors under the name of Fatih Museum, where Turkish and Islamic artifacts were exhibited in 1953, and in 1981 he was transferred to Istanbul Archaeological Museums.

The entrance façade of the mansion is single and the back is two floors. There is a 14 -column marble portico at the entrance. The entrance iwan is decorated with mosaic tiles. The mansion, which consists of 6 rooms and a middle hall, exhibits various tiles and ceramics belonging to the Seljuk and Ottoman period. There are about 2000 works in museums and warehouses. In the collections of the Tiled Pavilion Museum, there are around 2 thousand works from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods dating to the early 20th century. When the collections of the Museum are connected to the Istanbul Archaeological Museum Directorate due to its proximity as its location in 1981, the works existing and archaeological excavations are made up of purchases, donations and confiscation.
