The area is not short of history with the crusader castle of St. Peter dominating the bay of Bodrum and the remains of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the wonders of the ancient world nearby. It is also home to many good restaurants and there are plenty of opportunities for shopping.

Gümbet is essentially a beach resort, with all accompanying attractions of sea, sand and a myriad of water sports on offer. There are many smaller villages situated further along the Bodrum peninsula, which each have their own character and individual attractions. Bodrum is also an excellent centre for exploring the area by sea. Daily boat trips can easily be arranged, or for a longer stay you could benefit from the use of Dedeman II, a luxurious 36 meter gulet, to undertake the famous "Blue Cruise".
